Another fun Sandra Boynton, this one birthday-themed. Recommended for SB fans. ( )

Despite being a board book, it's got a plot! The monsters are a lot of fun, and my 1-year-old grandson just loves the book! (We did a bit of a monster theme for him...)

I love Boynton and have for decades now, and this is a really fun addition to her board books for the little ones! ( )

24 months - Found at Goodwill for $1 right about the time of O's 2nd birthday. Not the best of Boynton but it's ok and it's nice to have something birthday related when that time of year comes round.... and hey, the price was right! ( )

I feel like all I do is review Sandra Boynton books lately. This is another new one that we bought for our daughter's birthday, and at first I didn't like it as much as some of our favorites. The text isn't as smooth, it doesn't roll off my tongue like the writing in Snuggle Puppy or Pajama Time. The first time I read it I was disappointed. After my daughter started asking for the monster book at bedtime, my feelings changed. I had to get a few good readings and learn where to embellish with sound effects and songs, and now it's a much more fun read. I still can't compare the writing to some of her other stories, it's just not as lyrical; but it is a fun story, and my girl likes it, which is good enough for me. ( )
