The good bits: the author writes with authority on a subject that he clearly knows well. The book seems well organised and is generally written and illustrated clearly.

The not-so-good: the book is a little bit limited in its scope, with all the example being small motors. You won't find the kind of motor used in the Tesla for example. I'd have liked to have seen a bit more on brushless DC motors. Also (a minor carp) some of the photographs were a bit dark and a bit small.

Whether you find the book useful probably depends on what you are looking for and what else you have read. If you run a small machine shop, I guess it would be ideal. I'm glad I read it but I probably won't read it twice.
