Awesomely Simple by John Spence

The title of this book 'fits.' Awesomely Simple is just that… deceptively 'simple' advise that becomes accumulatively 'awesome.'

The book simply and clearly singles out a group of six very basic and recognizable concerns (principles) that most organizational leaders will fully understand and appreciate as being vital to their success. In fact, they're highly likely to already be addressing some of these concerns at some level and in some way. Yet it's in the identification of these specific six from all others and the manner in which they are woven into a qualitatively well-reasoned, cohesive business management whole, that makes the sum much greater than its parts.

The six principles are:
1. vivid vision.
2. best people.
3. robust communication.
4. sense of urgency.
5. disciplined execution.
6. extreme customer focus.

Still, this framework is just the beginning. For each of the six principles, the hard won advise is evident, the dozens of "golden nugget" tips are invaluable and the highly operative assessments are both insightful and broadly applicable. Even better, all of the advise is practical, actionable and easily shared with people who would be acting at every level and function.

As an operational execution and business process improvement adviser-practitioner, I will take this book with me into every opportunity I have to help any organization achieve it's best success.

If you have a leadership role or any responsibility at any level, for the success within your organization, I highly recommend that you read this book. If you are open to the ideas of focus, discipline, and action shared here, you will contribute to successful operational excellence. It's just that simple. ( )
