The Wheel of Time series, written by James Rigney, under the pen name Robert Jorden, is a rather large epic fantasy series. If you are not intimidated by the fact that every book in the series is about the same size as the fifth Harry Potter book, the shortest having 332 pages and the longest having 1008 pages, and you have the time, I highly recommend you pick up the first few books in this series. He was able to write a story with about nine main characters and go from one character in this chapter and another character in the next without making it confusing and boring. He had me hooked from the very beginning. Although it is made of tons of side stories, he was able to write it so they all flow together as if it were a movie. Truly a surprise that an author can write such a large series with each book staying constant in length without completely losing their audience. That is why I began to be seriously disappointed when I go to the seventh book to the tenth. While they were full of info the reader needs to know to understand things later on, but...it seemed like he was trying to lengthen the series for monetary gain. I still suggest the first seven books to all though. ( )
