What a delightful and charming picture book for children. As adults, we keep score and maintain lists. We are such literalists that the impossible remains impossible. Yet, through the eyes of a child, all seems possible and wonderful. Would that we could recapture that wonder. Sigh... ( )

James Thurber is such a charming writer. While it'd be doubtful this could really hold the attention during storyime, this would make an excellent storytelling piece. (Note to self...) ( )

Book description
Many Moons by James Thurber is the story of a young princess who falls ill and tells her father, the King, that the only thing that can make her feel better is the moon. The king therefore calls upon all of his wise men and asks them to figure out how to get the moon for his daughter. The court Jester turns out to be the only one clever enough to solve the problem.
