Work InformationIn the Belly of the Bloodhound: Being an Account of a Particularly Peculiar Adventure in the Life of Jacky Faber by L. A. Meyer
![]() No current Talk conversations about this book. The adventures of Jacky Faber continue and this was a rollicking good one. She's back in Boston, but trouble is never far behind. I thoroughly enjoyed it and stayed up late, but was a little annoyed by the baldfaced setup for the next adventure - because I'll have to wait! ( ![]() Melodrama to the Nth Power, but fun melodrama! This is the fourth book in the Bloody Jack series continues with Jackie returning to land after many high seas escapades. Set in the 19th century Boston, Jacky return to the Lawson Peabody School for Young Girls and has many more wild adventures. Katherine Kellgren is an exceptional narrator, not only does she change voices from many characters but sings sea shanties! Description: Now that the King of England has called her a pirate and put a price on her head, Jacky Faber has no choice but to stay out of sight. Hoping for a safe hiding place, she returns to the Lawson Peabody School for Young Girls in Boston, but the calm doesn't last long. On a class field trip to Boston Harbor, the girls are abducted and forced into the hold of the Bloodhound, a ship bound for the slave markets on the Barbary Coast where they will be put up on the auction block and sold into Arab harems. Jacky wouldn't dream of going down without a fight, but the delicate Lawson Peabody girls are in over their heads. Although Jacky will use anything in her arsenal to help her well-heeled classmates, she isn't so certain they will find the strength and courage needed to survive. But if she can convince them to trade petticoats and propriety for her daring escape plan, the girls just might become their own rescuers. Thoughts: This was a very nice installment of the adventures of Jacky Faber. It might not have been the most daring and exciting but it was creative and wonderful to see all the girls rally to save themselves. I was confused and disappointed that Amy was left out of the main part of the story, but otherwise this one was very enjoyable. Its always entertaining to see the ingenious was she gets out of her many scrapes. no reviews | add a review
