Summary: this is a book full of several cute poems for children. The topics range from skyscrapers, to windshield wipers, to animals of all kinds.

Personal Reaction: I really enjoyed the poems on this book. They were cute, and I can imagine that loss would find them very fun and entertaining.

Classroom Extensions:
1: Use the poem, The Secret Place, and have kids write or draw what their own secret place inside of them would be like.
2: Have the children write their own silly poem about something that is on the book, like Alligator Pie, or make up their own silly thing to write about.

Summary
It is a poetry book with many poems. The first one is about all the dinosaurs heading into the dinosaurs zoo to have some dinner. In that particular poem it describes many things of what the dinosaurs or alligators like to eat. Another poem that was read was alligator pie which was talking about how the alligator wanted food. The poems in the books were very cute. They use rhymes in the book which made it fun.

Personal reaction
It is a cute rhyming poetry book. The illustrations of the book we're super cute. In one of the illustrations it showed children instead of dinosaurs. I thought that was clever because children or animals and crazy and weird. Overall it was a cute and wonderful poem book that has great poems and that are also easy to read.

Classroom extension
1. The kids can write a poem describing what their favorite food is to eat
2. The teacher can makeover of the dinosaurs food for the class to try.

Summary:
Alligator Pie is a poem in a book of favorite poems by Dennis Lee titled, Dinosaur Dinner. Alligator Pie is a very short poem. This poem is about a little boy sitting at a dinner table naming all of his favorite foods made with alligator. At the end of the poem, he can’t wait to eat his alligator pie, alligator stew, and alligator soup.

Personal Reaction:
The entire book has 41 poems about bees, dinosaurs, bears, ice-cream, doctor visits, and school playgrounds. The illustration of a small alligator inside of a pie makes the poem more realistic. I have never eaten alligator pie but I have cooked alligator in my gumbo. Gumbo is a similar to a soup or stew. I have eaten fried alligator. To me all alligator taste like chicken, no matter how it is prepared.

Classroom Extension Ideas: 1.) An Alligator Pie Cooking Experience- Use chocolate chip morsels, cool whip, vanilla instant pudding, green food coloring, graham cracker crust and milk cut into triangle slices to create a green alligator pie.
2.) Create a greater than less than math activity file folder for each student using alligator templates.

Summary:
Dinosaur Dinner is the title of a book of favorite poems by Dennis Lee. The first poem is titled, The Dinosaur Dinner. In this rhyming poem several different dinosaurs are mentioned such as a Tyrannosaurs Rex and Brontosaurs. This poem is very short. At the end of the poem while the dinosaurs are having dinner at the dinosaur zoo, the waiter Tyrannosaurs Rex, gobbled up the table because the other dinosaurs didn’t pay their checks.

Personal Reaction:
The entire book has 41 poems about bees, dinosaurs, bears, ice-cream, doctor visits, and school playgrounds. The illustration of this poem is full of humor when it shows a giant green Tyrannosaurs Rex gobbling up the table, forks, and napkins. This would be a great story for my son to read because he can name all of the dinosaurs and the “big” words that go along with naming the dinosaurs.

Classroom Extension Ideas: 1.) Plan a field trip to a dinosaur museum. Have students bring writing journals for them to record their observations.
2.) Create dinosaur fossils. Use Plasticine, paper, paper cups, an object to use as the fossilized impression, plaster or Paris, and water.
