One of his friends is looking to buy the place and turn it into a fun resort, and he wants the young people's opinions about how much fun it would be for kids their age. Strange things happen right off the bat: Honey's watch is stolen, the girls are locked out of their room, mysterious notes keep warning them to get off the mountain. They discover a cranky old hermit in the woods and Trixie is convinced he's a counterfeiter (good God, *another* one!!). ( ) Trixie Belden and the Mystery at Mead Mountain is number 22 in the series. Trixie and the rest of the Bob-Whites (minus Dan as usual: what on earth did the writers have against poor Dan?) enjoy one of their many breaks from school--this one over Christmas--by hopping the Wheelers' private plane to a ski resort in Vermont that Mr. Wheeler is thinking of buying. They learn to cross-country ski one morning and are soon exploring the mountain, which locals suggest is haunted. Trixie finds several mysteries and solves them handily, helping to sort out the lives of nearly everyone the teens have met. As always with this series, the reader wishes he or she could have had such friends and such fun during his/her teen years. I loved this series when I was young--these are the books I learned to read on--and reading the books now is a visit with old friends and simpler times--wholesome and satisfying. no reviews | add a review
