I really like this cookbook. It’s organized well. Most of the recipes can be made by someone not horrendously familiar with Indian cooking. It doesn’t include pictures; this is not food porn. Just lots and lots of recipes.

We love Indian cooking. When I finally worked up the nerve to try it myself, this was the cookbook I bought. I can't compare it to any others for Indian food, but - as a novice - I can assure you that the recipes, at least the ones I've tried, work great. The ingredient listings make sense (and Batra is good at offering general suggestions for substitutions that actually suffice). The instructions are clear. The end results astound everyone. It's a lot of cookbook for the money. ( )
