1 - La première partie est la relation de l'expédition de l'abbé d'Auteroche dans les années 1761;
2 - la seconde partie est consacrée à la géographie pure ;
3 - la troisième, à l'histoire naturelle ;
4 - la quatrième, à un état comparatif d'observations minéralogiques relevées en France, en Allemagne et en Russie ;
5 - la cinquième, aux observations astronomiques ;
6 - la sixième traite de l'électricité naturelle. Un troisième volume rassemble des cartes.
