3892. Vestments, by Alfred Alcorn (read 25 May 2004) I read this 1988 novel because of a casual mention in a church bulletin. Sebastian Taggart is an English orphan brought to Boston by a relative who is a devout Catholic who in her dotage thinks Sebastian is a priest--so he dresses like one and finds he likes the respect he draws. Becaus it treats faith seriously, and has a non-repulsive ending I found this book a triumph, despite all the things Sebastian does wrong. ( )
