No current Talk conversations about this book. really liked this book-it caught my attention enought that the moment I recieved it, I read it, and it was finished within one day. Unfourtanately, I recently went on vacation, so I didn't have a chance to really review it until now. Jane was...interesting. The sort of girl who is a book nerd and loves to read and study for school and doesn't really care how she looks. Just Jane doesn't know how pretty-and ultimately special she is. Jane has always dreamed of seeing real magick-but what she doesn't know is that it's right in front of her. I really liked Jane-she was the sort of enthusiastic and bubbly type of character that knew how to control herself at the same time. Emily was not my favorite-in fact, I thought of her as a sort of punkish character. I also didn't like how she tempted the boys to get the pills-but of course, she needed them to stop the vioces in her head-so I guess that makes sense for her to want them. To me, Emily jsut seemed like the sort of devilish type of girl who would do almost anything to maintain her status. But towards the end, I actually liked her better. Max is really compassionate-he saved Jane because she was innocent and he believed that she had a right to live-shich she did. If Max was real, he'd be the ideal boyfriend of every single girl. Wes is sort of hot-tempered and really short minded. He switches from one girl, to another girl, to another girl-the same two girls that he keeps on switching to. Hopefully, he'll know which one is better for him sooner or later-or realize which one he likes better. Greg is just plain evil-there's nothing else you can say about him, and this sentence alone just about sums it up. This book was definetely one of my favorites, but one of the only of the few flaws I could find was that a few words were missing, making the words confusing to understand, and some words were clearly mispelled. But otherwise...this was amazing! Grade B+ Luv, Bethany I'd been eager to read this book since I first discovered it on the author's website a few months back. The gorgeous cover drew me in first and when I finally cracked the book open, I was anything but disappointed! What a fantastic, whirlwind of a story! This book was told chapter by chapter, alternating between the points of view of the four main characters: Jane, her younger sister Emily, their lifelong friend Wes, and the mysterious new guy Max. This was the perfect format for this story. Because there was so much going on with each character, it really gave you a good sense of connection with each one. I have to say, I loved all four of them. Each of their relationships between eachother was complicated and real. The story was exciting and moved fast, with little pieces of the plot falling into place with every turn of the page. You feel the love and the confusion, the danger and the helplessness against the enemy, the wonder at all the magick...definitely not one to be missed! The second of this series is due out this summer and I'm so excited to see what happens next! no reviews | add a review

What I really enjoyed about the various point of views was it allowed the reader to see how one character looks to the other character's eye. We all view others in a different light, and Book of Love shows that. This allowed the characters to be more dimensional. I also like that this allowed for the reader to get to know the character's secrets sooner. From the beginning, we get to see why Jane is shut off, why Emily acts like a troubled teen, What's up with Wes' sudden pains, and what interest Max has in Jane. My favorite character was Emily. I felt there was a bit more to her than the other characters and she surprised me more. And I can't go without pointing out the similarities between Max and Greg and the Salvatore brothers. Not that I am complaining. Sexy brother who enjoys being bad plus sexy brother struggling to be good will always be a winning combination in my book.
While I enjoyed the interesting characters, I felt that some of this 'world' was missing. I think this is because I assumed with a series title like "Knight Angels" that it would have a bit more action in it. The idea of Magick plays a big role in this book and I wanted to see more of that sooner. I wanted to know more of this dark group of beings trying to take over and destroy everything good. I get this in the ending, but I wanted more of it sooner. But going by the last part of the book, it looks like I'll be getting what I want in the sequel. That makes me excited for it.
Book of Love is a good start to a series with lots of potential. If you like stories that are character driven and a variety of awesome supernatural elements (angels, shape-shifters, mind-readers...), then you will enjoy this first book in the Knight Angels series. ( )
