Superman takes Lois Lane to his Fortress of Solitude, to reveal to her the secrets of his powers and origin for a newspaper article. Their time together is cut short when Lex Luthor attacks Metropolis. Providing learning readers with the opportunity to develop their skills through the lens of a beloved character, this book introduces the basic facts of Superman's story in simple language. However, some of the franchise specific words and names, such as "kryptonite" and "the Fortress of Solitude" may prove a frustrating challenge for readers, particularly those not familiar with the superheroic jargon. However, if the concepts are familiar, most the images will greatly aid in identifying these particular words. The cel-shaded art reads like a cross between simple cartoon and more detail-heavy mainstream comic book style illustration, and communicates each page's intent effectively. Overall, this book operates well as a learning aid for young fans of the Man of Steel. ( ) no reviews | add a review
