No matter what comes along, they seem to be able to see the bright side of life. There are a number of intertwining stories going on in this novel, but only the one following Lottie is fully fleshed out. The rest are drawn in more broad strokes. I mostly enjoyed this book, the story was fast moving and some of the characters really endearing. Unfortunately the main plot was centred around Lottie's children Nat and Ruby hating Tylor and not wanting them to be together, to create this situation Jill Mansell ended up making them sound like horrible spoiled brats which didn't fit in with who their mother was and how they were brought up. I loved Jill Mansell's style, chick-lits with humor are always winners, and this one was definitely funny. Still, halfway through the book I started to find it a bit tiring, especially Lottie's story. I think it was a bit too long, too many setbacks, almost felt like the author was going for a movie-lenght book. http://bookcrossing.com/journal/4684287/J_7609097 But in the end, it is still a good book to read when you feel like relaxing. no reviews | add a review

Jill Mansell's chorus of sharp-witted youth, shaking sticks at the foibles of their elders, is delightful." â??Daily Express "A smashing read that both delights and surprises the reader." â??The Sun Praise for Thinking of You: "Mansell is like a Michelin-rated chef: She may use common ingredients, but under her sure hand the results are deliciously superior." â??Kirkus "Humorous, sometimes poignant...Her breezy style resembles that of Sophie Kinsella or Helen Fielding...readers will be delighted." â??Booklist "Jill Mansell combines, humor, friendship, romance and betrayal...keeps you wanting more." â??Fresh Fiction "Beyond the fun, faulted characters, Mansell has a gift for humorous and witty dialogue that will leave readers in stitches...Mansell excels at creating relationships that are dynamic and complicated." â?? First of all I have to say that I don't have children but I know lots of them and Lottie's children acted like brats on several occasions. I though it was a little bit unrealistic when Lottie was called into the school and advised to drop the relationship because the children didn't like him (sorry I've forgotten his name it is a little while since I read it)
Secondly how many women would turn their back on a nice decent man just because their children didn't like him... I'll stand corrected by people who have been in this position though! ( )
