This has been my least favourite novel of Jill Mansell's to date, she is one of my favourite chic-lit authors and I always love her style however I became frustrated with the plot quite a few times.

First of all I have to say that I don't have children but I know lots of them and Lottie's children acted like brats on several occasions. I though it was a little bit unrealistic when Lottie was called into the school and advised to drop the relationship because the children didn't like him (sorry I've forgotten his name it is a little while since I read it)

Secondly how many women would turn their back on a nice decent man just because their children didn't like him... I'll stand corrected by people who have been in this position though! ( )

Ms. Mansell is the master of breezy, self-assured heroines. No matter what comes along, they seem to be able to see the bright side of life. There are a number of intertwining stories going on in this novel, but only the one following Lottie is fully fleshed out. The rest are drawn in more broad strokes. ( )

Such a satisfying read, both grounded in reality and laced with hope. Review copy received from the publisher via NetGalley.com. (107) ( )

I mostly enjoyed this book, the story was fast moving and some of the characters really endearing. Unfortunately the main plot was centred around Lottie's children Nat and Ruby hating Tylor and not wanting them to be together, to create this situation Jill Mansell ended up making them sound like horrible spoiled brats which didn't fit in with who their mother was and how they were brought up. I loved Jill Mansell's style, chick-lits with humor are always winners, and this one was definitely funny. Still, halfway through the book I started to find it a bit tiring, especially Lottie's story. I think it was a bit too long, too many setbacks, almost felt like the author was going for a movie-lenght book.

But in the end, it is still a good book to read when you feel like relaxing. ( )
