This was a fun coloring book that I absolutely used. I loved the fact that it was also a journal so it kept my mind occupied even when I wasn't in the mood for just coloring. I appreciated the fact that it was very adult based but my teenager could also use it. Thank you so much for the opportunity to review this early and print a PDF of it for my own use. It was exceptional and I was able to use it on my iPad to color as well. ( )This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers. While I was expecting just a plain ordinary (or slightly above ordinary) coloring book, this one turned out to be a true delight! Not only were the graphics stunning, but the philosophy that goes along with helping guide the reader was equally astounding. The Author clearly understands the subject and utilizes the coloring aspects to augment and aid the philosophy included. Job well done!! This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers. I received this copy to review through Librarything's Early Reviewers program. This is a very interesting hybrid of self-help and coloring book. The format combines journaling with art therapy to encourage reflection. I found the book to be successful on both fronts. I first started to begin using coloring as a therapeutic tool nearly ten years ago and continue to find it helpful. The book uses Jungian psychology as a framework for the journal prompts. Animal characteristics are used in the journal prompts and the accompanying coloring pages. The illustrations for the coloring pages are beautifully done. As i am new to shadow work, I am excited to use the journaling exercises as a tool for my own personal exploration of these concepts. The book also includes affirmations and a feeling wheel. This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers. I do a lot of adult coloring books and I have never had one that was more reading than coloring. If I am looking to color, I am trying to get out of my head and if I am looking to read that is a whole separate thing. I personally did not like this format at all. This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers. I received a copy of the Shadow Work Journal free through LibraryThing’s Early Reviewers program. My review is voluntary. I found this book to be an interesting and helpful self improvement resource that also seems to be rather unique. It combines an accessible introduction to the concept of shadow work and art therapy with engaging journal prompts and gently guided coloring activities. Framing the concepts through the lenses of animal characteristics helps abstract ideas to be more easily grasped. I believe anyone can glean something from this book, regardless of experience or comfort level. I look forward to working through mine intentionally over time. no reviews | add a review
