Skipped over a few long meandering parts, but fascinated by the time period & how the age constrained sexual expression. Read this book 40 years ago....learned a lot of what I know about sex from this book (even though he got some of it wrong!) deemed it erotic, and yes, pornographic...depicts an era when men in the British upper classes with unlimited resources could get away with socially-sanctioned everything in their pursuit of pleasure....hmmmm, have things really changed?...G. .....only half read though this book, but i find it nausating and hard to call it a "beautiful thing".raping the domestic help, raping children, getting service by prostitutes, and catching the clap more times than the yankees won world series..... yet,its a good piece of work.....its either the detailed imaginary compulsions of a diseased mind or the confessions of a fiend. maybe its both no reviews | add a review
