It took me a while to read this little book, but I enjoyed learning more about paganism over the centuries. So many misconceptions. :-/ ( )

As with all the Very Short Introductions, this is very short and jumps around quite a bit. The point of these is to direct you to books that will answer your questions in depth. What I learned from this one is that most of the questions I have don't have answers. So I saved a lot of time looking for them, but I also don't have answers. Sigh. I was fairly familiar with modern neo-paganism, but this filled in some gaps and gave me some new areas to pursue. Recommended for anyone who wants an introduction to this topic. ( )

It is crucial to stress right from the start that until the 20th century people did not call themselves pagans to describe the religion they practised.
