Such exposures are often conducted first in imagination and then in real life. For example, if you were fearful of driving far from home, you would gradually increase the distance you drive in small increments. Generalized anxiety disorder is frequently associated with physical symptoms, such as tension, headaches, irritable bowel syndrome, high blood pressure, insomnia, and even osteoporosis.
