This omnibus was THICK. I'd never heard of Invincible before watching the show (which I'm a little bit ashamed of because I've read most of TWD comics and know Kirkman is really solid), but after watching it I immediately wanted to pick up the comics and find out what happens next. I can't wait to keep reading. I love how complex the characters are, and how there are some twists that I just never saw coming. ( )

You need to be ready to commit to this book, because the first 15 issues or so are about laying plot devices for later.

What works with this book is the price point. 47 issues for less than a dollar per is a fantastic deal. I'd buy more compendiums if this happened with other titles. The interplay between the teens is generally good -a mix of realistic and funny. There are enough twists to keep on reading.

What doesn't work, and I admit I'm beyond the target audience by years- is the sometimes very campy fight scenes. You also get a pile of heroes and villains who pop up without any idea of who they are early on. The author then uses one comic in the middle to give you all the backgrounds. I don't agree with that setup BUT when you have all 47 issues at once, it's fair. If I'd been buying these one issue at a time I'd never have gotten to issue 7 ( a big twist) or other points.
