This book is for my kids who love edgy animals. It highlights not only tarantulas, but other creatures who use venom etc to defend themselves. It tells how and why certain creatures secrete this deadly concoction. It tells of the physical and behavioral characteristics common to all spiders, basic anatomy etc. The paintings are very life-like and beautiful to look at. It's a cool book for science sake but I personally don't like spiders. My son squirmed a bit at the pictures but overall enjoyed the book facts. Kids older that 5 will definitely find this book interesting and cool. ( )
