High school gets even harder when there's an evil god on the loose in the New York Times bestselling author's YA urban fantasy novel.

My name is Gwen Frost, and I go to Mythos Academy, a school of myths, magic and warrior whiz kids. And now there's also Loki, the evil god I helped set free against my will. On the bright side, I finally got a date with Logan Quinn, the hottestâ??and deadliestâ??Spartan at Mythos. But I should have known it was destined to end in disaster.

If we'd gotten into a swordfight, or been ambushed by Reapers, I'd have been more prepared. I definitely didn't expect to get arrested mid-sip at the local coffee hangout. I'm accused of purposely helping the Reapers free Lokiâ??and the person leading the charge against me is Linus Quinn, Logan's dad. Now pretty much everyone at school thinks I'm guilty. If I'm going to get out of this mess alive, I'll have to do i… (more)

You know that awful feeling in the pit of your stomach? When I first saw the cover and name for this book, the fourth in Estep's addictive Mythos Academy series, I just knew it wouldn't end well. And it so does not on a variety of levels.

Here we go once again sorry just heard that song Gwen is all ready for a normal activity with a guy she digs and it all goes to hell quicker then you can say 'Loki Smash'. Accused of being in cahoots with the Reapers (guys think about that for a moment please) Gwen once again finds herself reliving all that unfortunateness while the love of her life's father is basically saying 'Off with her head!'

Not a spectacularly good way to meet the 'rents as it were.

Logically I can understand why they'd suspect her. Coincidences being what they are in her relatively short time as part of their 'world' shit has gotten real alarmingly fast and she's always at the center of it. Loki being what he is--the trickster god--not terribly surprising they'd think her victim routine is a trick.

Plus you know the real bad guy of the novel is really good at manipulating folks into doing what's best for Loki and the Reapers...

My only real complaint is that when they're finally gaining some ground as a couple, this happens and Logan's dad is a jerk about it. His disdainful "You have the same foolish fondness for the Frost women that your Uncle did." had me wanting to punch the man. And of course his Uncle being Nikamedes and his affection for Gwen's mother (and Gwen now) was to what he referred to.

Some of this plays out like the second book, Kiss of Frost, in that Gwen is nearly killed a bunch of times--oh wait that's every book. I suppose its really the manner in which Gwen is nearly killed that is similar. Loki really needs better assassins...though he does choose the perfect tool in this book.

The fifth book, Midnight Frost, is due out soon(ish) (August?) but until the you should all check out "Spartan Frost", a novella from Logan's POV about what happens well...after this book. Cause the boy really needed ore stuff to angst over you know? ( )

I really enjoyed this audiobook! I think that this series seems to get better and better with each book. As this book opens, Gwen is finally out on a date with Logan when she is taken into custody to stand trial for letting Loki go. Of course, she is innocent but will she be able to prove that to everyone else? I was glued to my headphones eager to see how things would work out for Gwen.

I was pretty worried about Gwen in this book since the odds really seemed to be against her. To make matters worse, the leader of the crew putting her on trial is none other than Logan’s father along with his stepmother. She has a guard assigned to her but is allowed to go to classes until the trial is over and she is not treated well by the other Mythos Academy students. There are some pretty big revelations in this book along with a mystery that kept me guessing. I love the fact that this book is full of action but still focuses on the friendships between this group of students.

Tara Sands continues to do a fabulous job with the narration of this series. I really enjoy the various character voices that she uses which helps to pull me into the story. I think that she has a very pleasant voice that is easy to listen to for hours at a time. I am confident that her narration added to my enjoyment of this book.

I would definitely recommend this book to others. This is the fourth book in the Mythos Academy series which I would definitely recommend reading in order since each book builds on the events from previous books. This book had everything that I was looking for and I cannot wait to see what happens in the next installment. ( )

I love books that have Gods, especially Greek Gods, in modern times. I really love the world that Jennifer Estep created and the people in it.

This book was so good and I couldn't stop reading and I couldn't wait to see what would happen next. It was great to see Logan's dad and to get a glimpse into Logan's life. The book started out great and the ending was fantastic and it made you want to go and pick up the next book to find out what happens next.

I would recommend this series to anybody. ( )

Another great edition to the Mythos Academy series and probably the best one so far. What I like about this series is that they are always quick, fun reads, able to be devoured in a matter of hours. The content was slightly heavier, the stakes slightly higher but still it kept me engrossed from start to finish.

The story line was quite cleverly done and advanced the major plot crossing the books. I did pick a bit of it well before the conclusion but still found the conclusion a satisfying ending even if my heart had trouble with the cliff hanger at the end.

As usual, the characters were engaging and I liked the new characters that were introduced. We got to find out a little more about some of the peripheral characters which adds further depth to this already great series.

I am really enjoying this series and this instalment in particular. It's just a shame i now have to wait till August 2013 for the next instalment: Midnight Frost.

I give this 3 1/2 stars ( )
