So I recently tried to reread this book because I had given it a high rating but didn't fully recall it. Now I don't know what I'd been thinking to give it a high rating in the first place. The first few chapters made me feel like the book had a lot of potential. Then at some point too many of the characters proved to be over-bearing and they just continued to piss me off. I tried to stick with it but when Fox got caught trying to steal from Lord Norris and Miranda didn't try harder to defend him? It just became too much for me. It was one too many irritating obstacles and not enough possible satisfying outcomes. It made me think of trying to walk through deep snow and every other step you fall down. Oh and no one seemed to have Miranda's back either! I understand she had her faults but not a single person was really in her corner; not her father, mother, brother, Beatrice, not even Fox! I got to 75% and I just couldn't anymore. Story of a reckless lady and a ne'er do well gent. I enjoyed the interaction between Lady Miranda and Fox. Two people who are a lot alike, but separated due to class. Ms. Burke's story is humorously entertaining and heartwarming. Her Wicked Ways for me proved to be such an enjoyable journey that I purchased To Love a Thief. Can't wait to read it. Read the 6th in the series and really liked it :) Her Wicked Ways by Darcy Burke He and he buddies are there to rob the coaches but all he is offered is a kiss. He needs money for those at the orphanage for medicine. He finds her name Miranda, appealing. Because of her behavior she's being sent to work at the orphanage in the way of punishment. She had hoped to help Beatrice find a husband. That kiss though, was like one she never had before. Fox is a farmer and helps at the orphanage, his family owns and runs it. She is able to ask others for contributions and lets him know he appeals to her. Rob tries to pursuade him to go after Miranda before others get her. Love hearing how she wants to teach the girls new things and how she handles the boys and manners at the table. They are able to spend a lot of time together and the orphanage and learn more about each other. Very explcit sexual scenes. Lots of mystery that involve money, missing money. Very boring and long drawn out for my liking. Other works and excerpts are included at the end. Received this free review copy from the author and this is my honest opinion. no reviews | add a review
