Anderson also provides an indispensable introductory section on stitches, materials, equipment, terminology, and techniques, allowing even the most inexperienced knitter to get started confidently. Made for boys and girls, by parents and grandparents, aunts and even uncles, and, of course, best friends, the handmade hat is the perfect shower or birth or birthday gift--and Itty-Bitty Hats is the perfect gift for any knitter.… (more)

This is a go-to book for baby showers and charity knitting. The hats are fairly simple and very cute. ( )

Quite possibly one of the best knitting books I own. Of the more than 30 patterns, I would say 90% of them are adorable and practical. There are only two or three hats that I would never dream of knitting. Instructions are given in several sizes, newborn to two years, in most cases. Also, most patterns come with one or two variations, and the book also has an extensive and well-done "getting starting" section that is very new-knitter friendly but also has some great tips for intermediate knitters.
