"...he asks with sparkling bright green eyes flecked by a little bit of taunt."

And I'm done. That quote is a perfect reflection of the garbage writing in the rest of the book. I won't even talk about how silly the plot is, because I don't even know if there is one.

I had a really hard time deciding on the rating of this book. At first I read a 100 pages and I just couldn't get into it. I put it down and almost got rid of it but I decided to give another chance and I'm glad I did. The first 200 pages or so were slow for me but then this book got steamy and had me almost cry. I guess that rounds to about a 3.5 stars. ( )

I liked the book but I wish "baby" as a term of endearment could be banned from these books. ( )

'The moment you tell someone else is the moment you become a whiner and the world’s smallest violin starts to play. The truth is, we all have problems; we all go through hardships and pain, and my pain is paradise compared to a lot of people’s and I really have no right to whine at all.'

PLOT

20 year old Camryn Bennet, from North Carolina, has never been satisfied with living a monotonous life, doing the same things day after day. Her life fell apart when her boyfriend was killed in a car accident, and now she's in danger of falling into the very life that she doesn't want to lead. After falling out with her best friend, Camryn takes a Greyhound bus, with no idea where she's going; all she knows is, she wants to get away from home.
Andrew Parrish is a 25 year old, with dark secrets, which he hides with overconfidence. He's on his way to visit his Father in hospital, taking a Greyhound bus to put it off as long as possible. He crosses paths with Camryn when he sits behind her on the bus. At first, his loud music wakes her up, and gets them off to a bad start. But as they spend more time together on their journey, they start to grow closer and develop a friendship.

After going their separate ways, Camryn doesn't expect to see Andrew again, but they soon meet again, and decide to go on a road trip together. It's what Camryn always wanted, never staying in the same place for more than a few days, and it provides a welcome distraction from his secrets.
As the two grow ever closer, Camryn will discover the secrets that Andrew is hiding; will it push her away from him? Or will they grow even closer?

OPINION

I enjoyed reading this book, but I only gave it three stars, since I didn't connect with the characters as much as I'd have liked to. The story was a nice concept, but at times, I found it hard to get into, and got a bit bored with it. I was determined to find out what happened between the two of them, so I finished the book anyway.
The twist at the end was the best part of the book for me, we finally find out Andrew's secret, and it is truly shocking, it wasn't predictable for me at all, and it genuinely surprised me. This was the only part of the story that I really found myself connecting with the characters, and feeling the emotions that they were feeling.

I got this book on my Kindle for 99p from Amazon, so although it wasn't the best book I've read recently, it was definitely worth reading for that price. If I'd paid more, then I might have felt a little disappointed, but it was fairly enjoyable, so I don't feel like I wasted my money.
Although I didn't enjoy this as much as I'd have liked to, by the end of the book I did start to feel for the characters, so I will be reading the sequel, since I'm interested in finding out which direction Andrew and Camryn's life takes.

Overall, it's not the best book I've read recently, but towards the end, it was emotional and surprising, so if you're looking for a sweet romance story, which takes a direction that you're not expecting, then I recommend this to you. It's a fairly short and easy read, if I'd found it easier to get into, then I would have finished it a lot sooner, but I still read it in about a week. It's worth a read, especially if you get it as cheap as I did.Amazon are currently still selling the Kindle Edition for 99p, and the paperback for £5.99.

AUTHOR

This book was written by J.A Redmerski, a best selling Author, living in North Little Rock, Arkansas. She has written eight distinct works, including The Darkwoods Trilogy, and a few standalone novels, such as Killing Sarai and Dirty Eden. I'm interested in reading the next part to The Edge of Never, and I might look into a few of her other books too.
