This is especially true since there are a lot of scenes with only Bob present and very personal, but the author admits that they never talked to Robert Hanssen because of his plea deal with the government. Interesting story, but a little weird -- and I wonder how much of the _really_ weird stuff is anywhere near accurate. ( ) A fiction novel written under the facade of a non-fiction piece. Heavily blurs the lines between what is actual facts about the case, and what is simply a figment of the authors imagination. There is nothing wrong with a fictionalized account of the Robert Hanssen story - however, you can't classify this is a non-fiction book and make every attempt to deceive the readers that this is a true story. When reading this you simply have no idea what is truth and what is not. Read The Bureau and the Mole instead - you'll get an accurate depiction of the tale of Robert Hanssen without the conjured up back story & dialog. no reviews | add a review
From the bestselling author of "American Tragedy and "Perfect Murder, Perfect Town comes an even more stunning portrayal of America's dark side. "Into the Mirror is the shocking story of FBI Special Agent Robert P. Hanssen, the master spy who single-handedly created the greatest breach of security in the history of our country. On February 18, 2001, the FBI finally arrested Hanssen and charged him with selling -- over a period of more than twenty years -- top-secret, classified information to the Russians. Nothing that has been reported to date about this ordinary-looking but tormented man has revealed the astonishing facts that Lawrence Schiller and Norman Mailer -- collaborators on the Pulitzer Prize-winning "The Executioner's Song and "Oswald's Tale -- uncovered during their nine-month investigation into the life of this complex man."Into the Mirror gets inside the mind of a devious and dangerously brilliant man and creates an unforgettable portrait of someone so caught up in the struggle with his own personal demons that he would betray everything he holds sacred -- his wife, his family, his religion, and his country.Read by Sam Tsoustouvas No library descriptions found. |
