A good story. The author took a scenario that you wouldn't believe would happen in the Amish world, and made it a very believeable with a lot of real emotions flowing from the characters in this story.

Hannah, a Amish widow, finds herself working in the Lancaster Grand Hotel, where she will accidentally "bump" into Trey Peterson, as Englisher who is looking to open up a bed and breakfast in the Amish community to honor his deceased wife's desire. Together these two will bond over the loss of a loved one, which will turn into a beautiful love story. But family tensions will be high and the cost will be great. Looking forward to book two in this series. "A Mother's Secret". ( )

For as long as she could remember, Hannah loved being part of her Amish community. But her world turned upside down her beloved husband died and left her a widow with three children to raise. She and her husband had owned a horse farm with Joshua, her brother-in-law. Still, Hannah must find another source of income, and so she goes to work at a hotel. This is the beginning of what will eventually lead Hannah to a decision that will forever change her and her family. Author Amy Clipston handles this difficult storyline with much grace and insight. Hannah must decide which road to take, for she cannot take them both. How she decides which way God is leading her is the crux of this tale. How it works out for her and her family remains to be seen in the rest of the series. It’s a well written novel and peopled with likable and well-developed characters. ( )

I am so intrigued by the Amish - I don't understand so much of their belief system, and why they choose to live the way they do. Fortunately, there are several authors who write fantastic stories that incorporate explanation into their work, so learning about this often mysterious religious community is easy and enjoyable. Amy Clipston is at the top of that list. ( )

Have you ever wanted to line up most of the characters in a book and then backhand them as you walk down the row? I became so exasperated with most of the characters that I wanted to do just that, several times! But again, I wanted to tell them that I understood how they felt. The book left me feeling torn and emotional. I didn't want to put it down. I found myself in bed trying to reason with the characters. I knew they were not real people but still.......a fantastic read that left me breathless at times. ( )
