Terrified of becoming the next victim, Shelly has no choice but to turn to Sheriff Tillman Angier. Tillman has had his intense gray eyes on the sultry honey-haired beauty for a while. Deb Herbert brings mythology to life. Mermaids in the bayou? You bet. Her heroine made me long for the sea, and the secrets in the book kept me turning pages to see how it could ever work out - not only if she'd escape the murderer, but how she'd get that sexy sheriff!

Smooth and sexy, if you like romance and a well-woven story, you'll like this one! ( )

I started reading this series in the wrong order, but it in no way ruined the rest of the books for me. I will start off by saying that I love the name of the male lead in this book! His name is Tillman Angier. How unique is that! I thought that he and Shelly were perfect for each other. This book has everything that I look for when looking for something to read. There was a mystery and a love story and that is a wonderful combination! I loved this book. I can't wait to read the second one in this series. ( )

This book was an enthralling story of suspense, love and passion. It was such a page turner that I spend my Friday night at home reading it instead of going out for the night.

**I received the book for free through Goodreads First Reads. This has no bearing on the review posted above. ( )

Siren’s Secret by Debbie Herbert is a great book that effectively combines fantasy, mystery, and romance genres in a single book.

The main character Shelley, who is a mermaid, sees a serial killer dumping his latest victim into the ocean and gets stabbed by him before she gets away with his knife. The knife holds sentimental value for the killer, so he stalks her on land. She starts a new romance with the local sheriff (who has to deal with an alcoholic mother and an autistic brother), but she cannot tell him the truth about what she saw that night. So Shelley hopes to frame the killer for the murder, but gets caught in the attempt.

This is an excellent, well-written book. A great choice for anyone who loves a good murder mystery!

Siren's Secret, by Debbie Herbert, was a very fun read. It includes a touch of romance, fantasy (mermaids) and the mystery behind a serial killer's crimes. It was a fun combination of genres, and I enjoyed both the pace and the author's style.

My main complaint is that the story was a bit too much of a fairy-tale love story, and the characters fell in love too quickly and too easily for my taste. However, with so many different parts to this story, this isn't your typical paranormal romance. I enjoyed it. ( )
