book was way too short for my 3 year old. ( )

Summary:
This book tells a story of a boy who has a dog named Tiny. Tiny goes everywhere with the boy and though there are no dogs allowed in the library, Tiny finds a way to help his owner.

Personal Reaction:
I thought this book was cute. I can see my little cousin enjoying this book because it has many pictures of Tiny. This book describes the life of a boy and his best friend which is so relevant to kids all over.

Classroom Extensions:
1.In the classroom, we could color pictures of our dogs or of dogs we think are pretty.
2.We could try to draw different ideas of things that Tiny could help us do.

There are two reasons I like this book. First, the illustrations are a key point to the story and keep the reader engaged. The dogs name is Tiny, however he is a huge dog. Without the illustrations you would never know. Also, it is very fun to see a little blue bird on every page. He is never mentioned but I can imagine reading this aloud to a class and seeing them get excited about looking for the bird. The boy in the story has glasses, which seems like no big deal, but is a great way for students with glasses to connect. Second, I like how the writing flows. The boy talks about things he does with Tiny and it has great opportunities to pause and have the readers predict what will happen next. For example, after he says he goes to the park with Tiny you can predict where they may go next or what they might do. The message of this story is about friendship and how friends are always there for each other. ( )

Tiny is anything but tiny. He's a big old moose!!.. not really.. He's a dog. Lighthearted story of a little boy and his dog Tiny. This book is a part of a series for preschool age to the beginning of second grade. ( )
