Cab is back! He's investigating a threat made to his mother Tarla's best friend Diane. Diane is running for governor and there are all sorts of sordid happenings that happened 10 years previous, including the murder of her husband right in front of her. Cab starts untangling a murky web of deceit, political players, a new political party, and new threats. Along the way he & Lala run into some relationship problems, along with his hit or miss relationship with his mother. New evidence, new murders, and a new players find their way into the mix. Interesting twists and more info on Cab's background round the story out. Can't wait for the next book ( )

Cab Bolton is back in Florida. A friend of his mother, Diane Fairmont, is running for governor...she was thrust in to the political spotlight 10 years earlier when her husband was assassinated at the podium during a campaign speech during his own run. An extremist was eventually convicted of the murder, but there is some indication he could have been railroaded.

Cab is initially hired as a private investigator to ensure nothing crops up that might damage. Meanwhile, a campaign aide, Peach Piper, is doing some investigation of her own. Her brother, you see, was also killed when Fairmont's husband was assassinated on the dais. Piper's and Bolton's paths cross, and soon it becomes apparent Bolton can no longer work in the best interests of the campaign as it becomes clear the killer is still on the loose.

While the story was interesting, I don't think it did as much as the first book in creating Cab Bolton as an endearing character. I'll still give the next one a go, though. ( )
