This is the first comedy attributed with certainty to CalderÓn de la Barca. It premiered in Madrid, in the old AlcÁzar, June 29, 1623, perfomed by the company of Acacio Juan Bernal. The plot reflects the three cornerstones of its title and is based on the exemplary story titled: CÓmo Eduardo III, rey de Inglaterra, se enamorÓ de la condesa Salveric y cÓmo despuÉs de haberla seguido por muchas vÍas, se vino a casar con ella.
