A playful grasshopper wonders why the busy ants around him won't join in his merrymaking as the seasons pass by. But when winter arrives, he soon sees the value of his friends' hard work–just as the ants learn the value of sharing what they've worked for.

In the picture book "The Grasshopper & the Ants" shows that a grasshopper who is playful begins to wonder why the ants are always so busy around him. When winter soon arrives, he soon begins to learn the value of his friends' hard work. The ants learn the value they bring to the table with sharing what they worked hard and long for over the time period. This magnificent book when introduced to the classroom will help teach a lesson to show that you shouldn't put off things for tomorrow for what you can do today. ( )

The Grasshopper & The Ants, written by Jerry Pinkney, published in 2015. This book is a great illustrated book for the younger children. I picked this book because the main theme talks about how the grasshopper wants to have fun and be creative but the ants are too busy at work preparing for food and shelter for when winter would arrive. I see this book being used in an English class setting because the book uses repetitive techniques in their writing to show the audience what happens to bugs over the seasons. "Although the grasshopper wanted to play, the ants were too busy preparing for winter." ( )

Let's play. Stop working! This is how the grasshoppers thinks.
However the ant are busy busy and know winter is coming, so they must work hard. The plot is very similar (not exactly, but similar) to Eric Carle's The Very Busy Spider.

Moral of the story:
Don't put off for tomorrow what you can do today.
(This is written in the book)

• Illustration:
The art is cluster at first glance, but the more you look closer into detail; more details and hidden things you see.
The art is beautiful, in my opinion, and one of a kind. The pages are filled with detail and looks like the main art medium was a pencil. Looks like the artist drew some doodles in a notebook and made this pretty art work. ( )
