I thought this book was awesome. There were a lot of things I liked about it. The first thing is definitely the rhyming. Rhyming is a great way to get students interested in books. For example, one of the lines in the book was “Guinea pigs need to get lots of exercise, too. There are ramps to be climbed and tubes to run through.” Secondly, I thought the illustrations were great. They were very colorful and vibrate which will catch the reader’s eye. Finally, I liked the topic of the book. It teaches the reader about many types of pets such as cats, dogs, guinea pigs, and bunnies. The overall theme of this book is to teach the reader about different pets through a fun rhyming story. ( )

“Oh, the Pets You Can Get,” is a story about The Cat in The Hat as he teaches a few children about the importance of taking care of your pets. The Cat in the Hat talks about all different kinds of pets, dogs, cats, birds, rabbits, guinea pigs, and fish. The Cat in The Hat teaches that a pet needs a lot of care to be healthy. This book taught about taking care of different kinds of pets and the kind of owner a pet needs to be healthy. I liked this book for multiple reasons. For one thing I felt that the rhyming in the text made the book flow very nicely. This book spoke about all different kinds of pets and it somewhat jumped all over the place but the rhyme in the book helps keep the reader on track. Something else that I loved about this book were the small captions at the bottom of some of the pages with extra tips about taking care of pets. Adding captions into the text added extra, special information for the readers. The last reason that I liked this book was because The Cat in The Hat has a tendency to be very silly but in this book the author made sure that the Cat in The Hat was serious when stating helpful hints about taking care of pets to its readers.
