This adorable board book for the very young is part of the “BabyLit” series of literature-inspired books for toddlers and children.

Each double page spread features a quote about a flower on one side, and a picture of that flower on the other. The quotes come from the book The Secret Garden, the children’s classic by Frances Hodgson Burnett. It was initially published in 1911, and has been adapted for the stage and screen numerous times.

The charming and colorful illustrations by Alison Oliver will please toddlers and help teach them color and word recognition. The quotations from The Secret Garden may be a little abstruse for the kids, but for parents who remember this beloved story, they will serve as a welcome reminder. ( )

Another cute book by Jennifer Adams. This book features several different kinds of flowers. Each picture featured the flower and then a field of them with just a quick sentence that talked about each flower. Short and sweet. ( )
