This was my first Nicholas Sparks book. I have actively avoided his work since watching A Walk to Remember in high school and feeling emotionally destroyed for quite a while. I don’t love romance novels and I don’t love reading sad things. But a friend recommended this one and I gave it a shot—and I’m glad I did.

I really enjoyed the characters and the story, and it held much more intrigue than I anticipated. My only complaints are that excessive detail was given about inconsequential things (if I wanted to read about everything a MMA fighter does at the gym, I’d pick up a book about MMA), and the plot seemed to go on a bit too long. Several points felt like a denouement, but then it just kept going. All in all, though, I was pleasantly surprised and couldn’t put it down. ( )

I used to be a major Nicholas Sparks' fan. However, over the years, I find myself no longer loving his novels. Hence, the delay in reading this novel. Honestly, "See Me" was better than some of his later novels. The plot was original enough and held my interest for the most part. What I struggled with, was the behavior and some of the dialogue with one of the main characters, Colin Hancock. I know that this novel is fiction, I just like the characters to be somewhat believable. Colin's character is written as a tough guy who cage fights and, in the past, had a propensity for violence. Then he falls in love with Maria Sanchez and all of a sudden, he's wearing suits and taking salsa lessons?! His dialogue also seemed out of character, at times. If you're a die heart fan, you may love this. Some other readers/reviewers did. ( )

I really liked this more "action movie" love story and the weaving of the stories together, it made a great audio book because of the suspense. ( )

Once again Nicholas Sparks has written an amazing story. Wow! It was really hard for me to put this one done! ( )
