This volume assembles four of Amparo's story collections, dating from 1959, 1961, 1977, and 2008, the final collection previously unpublished. {Cuentos reunidos} brings together Da vila's eerie and sometimes grotesque tales of mystery and horror. The serial nightmare scenarios of the title story from the collection, {Tiempo destrozado}, for example, seem different from the story "Mu sica concreta" until the reader enters the terrible, fear-laden world of its character Marcela. "Desayuno" plays with dreams and reality, leading the reader to believe that a nightmarish murder has actually happened. Da vila combines realism and horror deftly, leaving the impression that something very unsettling lurks beneath the surface of daily life.… (more)
