I fully expected this one to be the return of Bert, and we'd see the action explode. I guessed that based on the cover image and the title.

Instead, I got Coach Boss going off the deep end over the homecoming game. More football. I hate football.

So, once again, a volume I should have hated. Instead, yet again, I couldn't read it fast enough. Going through the various characters was fascinating.

A great series. ( )

Apparently this was what I needed to return to reading books after a 6 month hiatus. Gritty, hot-blooded, violent. Like Scalped, I can't look away. Even if there is no shortage of cliche, it still scratches some terrible itch of mine. It drove me crazy that more characters were piled on and nothing in particular was resolved in the plot throughout this book. ( )

Strong series, this one is split between many characters so is a little muddled, but still good. Can't wait for the next one. ( )

An interesting graphic novel series produced by a couple of guys who both love the South and are very concerned about the South. The graphics are pretty good and do add to the plot. The story threatens to descend into stereotypes talking about well traveled plot, but is well enough done, that it is worth the read. Like most modern graphic novels it is very much a series that is only for adults. ( )

Placeholder volume. Volume 2 set us up for the arrival of a major new character on the scene, and this book puts that off until the final chapter. Meanwhile we get some gritty stories about how evil the bad guys are. The stories are not bad, but just not totally necessary either. Looking forward to volume four. ( )
