Sure, it was spot on about the world of fashion bloggers, but it couldn't really make up its mind about what it was/is trying to say. It's no Scott Pilgrim. But I love her hair. ( )

Overall, a decent start to the GN, a lot of open ended-ness in the first vol, but i'm looking forward to vol. 2 &3! The art is so stunning!! ( )

Lottie, a rising fashion blogger has a dirty little secret. Will it stay hidden or will it be revealed by a certain fashion obsessed detective. Saccharine friends - check (specifically, cutegirl, the queen of shade), THE FASHION (like Oprah says "I LOVE IT!"), and the elements of teen drama stuffing in throughout the story (shirt-less dudes and the possibility of le sexy time) was surprisingly good. It was cute, funny and the art style really compliments the story. Although not perfect, it was funny, engaging and mostly interesting. ( )

I just spent 5 issues watching a fashion blogger vent about her life. The volume deals with Snottie, a fashion blogger, and how, while she's super successful in her fashion blogging business, she feels it to be disingenuous, and not the real her (oh yeah, and allergies, that's also a problem apparently). My biggest problem with it is that I simply don't give a shit: I've never read or made a blog in my entire life; I've never cared about my physical appearance to the degree it runs my life; and I've never had a popular social media account that caused me to stay with friends I don't like, go to events I didn't want to go, or turn the nice things in life into a photo opportunity. Sure, a lot of people suffer from this to some extent, and yes, it's good to express and bring those issues into light, but the novel approaches them as though they were slice-of-life problems rather than a life-dictating problem, and it certainly doesn't help that I find Snottie to be an unbearable character to express this.

To give a basic summary of who Snottie is, she's a fashion blogger: she calls people by nicknames she's privately made for them; bases her perception of reality in relation to herself and how they may inconvenience her; doesn't maintain any close, healthy relationships; shows narcissistic tendencies yet lacks a clear identity; and suffers from extreme mood swings. This is all serial-killer behavior, How does anyone find her remotely likable?

I will admit, the ending certainly changed things for me, but I wouldn't exactly say it made me reevaluate my feelings about the volume. Cool girl makes Snottie murder someone, it would've been nice to know that cool girl was an internal character of hers so I can validate my "Snottie's a serial killer" hypothesis, but no, she's real, Snottie's friends had seen her blog posts. Anyways, to make a long review short, I never want to read anything like this ever again. ( )
