The Devil moves to L.A. and solves crimes.

It's a fun character and a fun premise. But the murder-of-the-week formula is a lazy way to fill time, and the over-arching story is the bare minimum necessary for the show to not be a complete reset-button-style throwback. ( )

Lucifer joins forces with a detective to solve some cases. He's doing it because he's bored and his attitude rankles Detective Chloe Decker. Add into the mix his demonic bartender, a psychologist and a mixed bad of other characters and you have an interesting set of interactions and characters.

There were times when they tried too hard to camp up Lucifer but overall it was fun and the characters were well done and interesting. I look forward to season 2. ( )
