This book is unique because it involves different cultures coming together to celebrate their differences, in this case having a noodle festival. What I really liked about this book is that it includes recipes in the back. It is a great multicultural book and is great to read aloud to third and fourth graders. Students can share their recipes with the class. ( ) I liked the book “Everybody Brings Noodles” by Norah Dooley for two reasons. First, the book pushes readers to think about other cultures and how noodles are universal. It broadens readers’ perspectives by showing recipes from all the cultures that live on Carries block. For example, in the back of the book there are recipes that each family brought such as Mrs. Tran’s Vietnamese spring rolls, and Mrs. Hua’s yellow sesame noodles. Second, the plot of the story is organized and paced well. The planning for the party, and then the block party in general sequences events well. The big idea of “Everybody Brings Noodles” is diversity and culture. no reviews | add a review

The block party was Carrie's idea, but when it arrives she can only think about two things: the talent show and the delicious noodle dishes from many countries that her neighbors are bringing. No library descriptions found. |
