![]() Books Read in 2023 (3,341) No current Talk conversations about this book. ![]() An adorable, dashing snail is "traveling to the salad at the end of this book. It is a beautiful salad, with crotons and a light vinaigrette....and absolutely no carrots." Escargot is a charming companion through the story, making lots of conversation and encouraging reader participation ("Can you blow on me to cool me off?"). But when Escargot reaches the salad...it has carrots! Escargot enjoins the reader to try it together ("On the count of three we will take a very, very, very small bite of the carrot") and it turns out to be delicious. Mwah! Dashka Slater read another Escargot book (Love, Escargot) at the Carle Museum in a marvelous French accent, so that's the way I heard Escargot's voice when I read this original one. Magnifique! A little long for toddlers, perfect for kindergarten or first grade. Oh my god, I could die of cute right now. This is the most adorable book in the world. This is another one of those rare books that I just sat and hugged for a minute after I'd finished it. It would make a perfect storytime book for the 4-8 year old crowd. I'm definitely suggesting it for our summer reading program collection at work next year. And I will recommend it to absolutely anyone who is looking for a cute picture book. Read it! You must! You will not regret it! (Mwah! I kiss you!) no reviews | add a review
