Readers should note (preferably before purchasing!) that these books have not been revised since first publication, except for a few minor corrections, nor is it intended to undertake any revisions in future.
[Author's note]. Any division of the Lakeland fells into geographical districts must necessarily be arbitrary, just as the location of the outer boundaries of Lakeland must always be a matter of opinion.
Introduction. Similar in plan to the Eastern and the Far Eastern fells, the high ground of the central area of Lakeland is based on a north-south axis.
