How far would you go to find The One?
A simple DNA test is all it takes. Just a quick mouth swab and soon you'll be matched with your perfect partnerâ??the one you're genetically made for.
That's the promise made by Match Your DNA. A decade ago, the company announced that they had found the gene that pairs each of us with our soul mate. Since then, millions of people around the world have been matched. But the discovery has its downsides: test results have led to the breakup of countless relationships and upended the traditional ideas of dating, romance and love.

Elle is the head of a company who has pioneered a service that promises to match people with their life partner based on a gene for a perfect match. The book follows 5 people in the UK who have been matched. That knowledge has vastly different results in the lives of the characters. Chapters are short, lots of action with a fair helping of loss and tragedy.
I found it pretty compelling and a quick read. ( )

Although The One by John Marrs has been on my shelf for quite a while, I have just now gotten around to reading it, and I don't know what took me so long! This was full of cliffhangers and twists, and I was completely here for it.

A new app called Match Your DNA uses biology and genetics to match you with your perfect person, whether they live a mile away or across the world from you. The DNA has never been wrong, there have never been mis-matches before, you're guaranteed to be with THE ONE.

There's Nick and Sally, engaged to be married when Sally decides she wants confirmation that they're Matched. When it comes back that his Match is a man named Alexander, Sally pushes for Nick to meet him just to see if the Match Your DNA algorithm really did screw up. Mandy and Richard match, but she never hears from him, and that starts her down a path that she didn't plan on going. Jade surprises her match, Kevin, who lives halfway around the world from her, only to find out that he's not the person she's been talking to for months. Christopher is a killer, and his match has no idea of his psychopathic tendencies. Ellie is the CEO of a multi-million dollar company, and although she swears she's happy with her life, when she's matched with Timothy, she soon becomes enamored with him.

Told from the perspective of one half of five couples, we follow them through their first meet up to the inevitable conclusion. Is Nick really gay and hiding it? Or did the system completely mess up? Is Mandy's Match dead, or did he just not want to meet her? Why doesn't Kevin want to see Jade? Will Amy understand if Christopher tells her the truth? If Ellie tells Tim who she really is, will he still accept her?

The writing was immaculate in this suspenseful thriller. The chapters were short with cliffhangers, I had to keep reading to get to that characters next chapter. There were many twists that I didn't see coming, although there were a couple of things that I guessed would happen. This was a definite page-turner, and I can hardly wait to get my hands on another of John Marrs books.

All in all, a great contemporary thriller of love, loss, family, secrets, and redemption. If you enjoy a twisty tale of suspense and romance, then this is for you. ( )

I had a ton of fun with this book. The chapters were short and super easy reading paced. There may have been a bit going on, but I really thrives in it.i tend to read up to 6 books at any time and the different character lines were well organized.
I enjoyed the power of persuasion being the driver for this plot. Most of society is so easily swayed this way and watching the chaos unfold was fantastical but close enough that I just rode that ride with ease. I could meander on a few of the understories, but I do t want to spoil for anyone having not read yet. I know a lot of readers focused on the killer and cop relationship, but damn that Hand That Rocked the Cradle vibe sub was frikken bonkers! ( )
