I borrowed it from Kindle Unlimited and it sat on my shelf for a while before I picked it up, so I had forgotten what it was about. I went into it blind. Overall, I liked the story. I thought the heroine was a little sad in her younger years for making so many bargains, but it was understandable why she did. The book is a little dark, but in the best ways. There is a mention of sexual assault of a teenager, but it is not terribly graphic. It could possibly be a trigger for some. I haven't decided if I am going to continue on with the series or not. I may be okay with leaving things where they are. i think the ONLY reason this one isn't scoring higher is the age difference. the fae/human age difference thing has never really bothered me before, but with this one, they met when she was SIXTEEN and he was acutely aware of her age becuase he said "I don't make bargains with children". so when he MET her he thought she was a child. and they were still mates? I mean i can get over it. I really can. But eek, it still gives me the heebie jeebies when i really start to think about it. I think heading into the next book now that we are mostly done with the flashbacks it will be better. And the story is actually really enticing. and the spice was good too. Just have to get over that age gap... not that they ever actually said his age? but we can assume he is a well matured adult i think This story had its hooks in me from the beginning. And I must say that cover is absolutely gorgeous. Callie aka. Callypso has endured some horrific things at the hands of someone who was supposed to care and love her yet she keeps plowing ahead and vows to never be a victim again. I liked that her character was relatable and had experienced some real life situations (deplorable as they are). It made the strides she made growing up and becoming a strong independent character much more believable. The Bargainer aka. Des, helps Callie one fate filled night and can't seem to keep away from her as she keeps calling him back to make bargains for his company. Racking up IOUs! I think his character developed well. I appreciated how every time his character is angry with Callie, it comes from a place of love and caring. Though he is a horrible being, you can see how much he cares through his actions. Spicy scenes were well done and pretty spicy. They weren't a big part of the story but they existed. There was more longing and sexual tension between the characters which made the story hotter in my opinion. Pepper scale: no reviews | add a review

HTML: Callypso Lillis is a siren with a very big problem, one that stretches up her arm and far into her past. For the last seven years she's been collecting a bracelet of black beads up her wrist, magical IOUs for favors she's received. Only death or repayment will fulfill the obligations. Only then will the beads disappear. Everyone knows that if you need a favor, you go to the Bargainer to make it happen. He's a man who can get you anything you want ... at a price. And everyone knows that sooner or later he always collects. But for one of his clients, he's never asked for repayment. Not until now. When Callie finds the fae king of the night in her room, a grin on his lips and a twinkle in his eye, she knows things are about to change. At first it's just a chaste kissâ??a single bead's worthâ??and a promise for more. For the Bargainer, it's more than just a matter of rekindling an old romance. Something is happening in the Otherworld. Fae warriors are going missing one by one. Only the women are returned, each in a glass casket, a child clutched to their breast. And then there are the whispers among the slaves, whispers of an evil that's been awoken. If the Bargainer has any hope to save his people, he'll need the help of the siren he spurned long ago. Only, his foe has a taste for exotic creatures, and Callie just happens to be one No library descriptions found. |

I can definitely see how people compare "Rhapsodic" with "A Court of Mist and Fury", but they are so different that the similarities don't bother me.
I'm definitely going to continue the series. ( )
