I’m a sucker for all thing fairy tale. I especially love it when authors retell the old stories in new ways that do justice to the original fairy tales, but fill in gaps in the story. Little Red Riding Hood is one story that desperately needs its gaps filled in. The Crimson Cloak wove together the stories of Red Riding Hood and Beauty and the Beast. While the stories are so well known and the outcome is certain, this novel made the stories seem delightfully new and filled them with many twists and surprises (including a magical world and lots of fairies). I look forward to reading other books by Sarah Morse Adams in the future.

I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. ( )

I liked this book quite a bit. The pace was good, and the writing except for some mistakes here and there was also pretty good. I found the take on the red ridinghood story quite interesting, but i have to say i didn't care much about the beauty and the beast part.It would have been better if it had focused on just the one story. This is a captivating twist of two fairytales. Scarlett Ridinghood is due to go into the Forbidden Forest be killed by her wolf, but before he can get to her, her best friend Beauty walks into the Forest and Scarlett decides she must find her. Beauty finds herself locked into a beasts castle. On the way to save Beauty, Scarlett and Rhys, who is her wolf, befriend each other and Scarlett wanders through Wonderland. This is an intriguing new tale that captures your your imagination. It is a very interesting read.
I received a free copy of this book from LibraryThing. This is my honest opinion. ( )
