{My thoughts} – Dawn ends up taking on a little more then she can handle. She ends up baby-sitting for the Barrett kids and learns it isn’t an easy task. Mrs. Barrett barely talks to her, doesn’t fill her in on important things and becomes hard to reach. On top of all of that the kids become dependent on Dawn instead of their mother.

This book touches on what it is like for a child to be kidnapped by their own parent. The steps that need to be taken if something like it should happen. It also shows a happy ending and in many situations that isn’t the case, but it was the outcome in this book.

I really do like these books because they touch base on topics that aren’t always talked about in books for children of this age. I like that they are turning them into graphic novels and making them more modern for today’s readers. I look forward to reading the next book in the series soon! ( )

I really wound up likening this one. It was read the focused on many issues that i have not read before like tough family lives and also just all the girls in general and not just one. I really liked how this book still tackled the issues in girl friendships and also this one focused moe on dawn and Maryann parents dating! It was a fast pace read that I really enjoyed! ( )

I do not care for Galligan's drawing style (which reminds me of Archie comics) after having enjoyed Telegmeirer's interpretations for the first 4 books. I'm probably more bothered by this than I should be. ( )

This book is about Dawn, one of the newest members in the Babysitters Club. It is based on the original work by Ann M. Martin. It is a great book but has a different illustrator than the previous four in the new series. If you are a fan of the original babysitters club, like me, this book is a combination of the original Dawn and the Impossible Three and Hello, Mallory. Galligan does a great job of continuing where Telgemeier left off in the new series. This book is like visiting old friends if you are Martin fan. It is okay to start with any of the books in the new series. This is the first one that I started with because I had some trouble getting a hold of the other four because they are flying of the shelves. This book follows Dawn as she is adjusting to her new life in Connecticut after moving there from California. She is trying to find her place in her new group of friends in the babysitters club. The story also follows another character named Mallory as she attempts to become a member of the babysitters club. I do not want to give anymore away but I suggest students (from 3rd grade on) to read this book! ( )
