Fiction. Romance. Suspense. HTML:

For eighteen-year-old Becca Torrence, the chance to finish high school in a new town, where no one knows her or the secrets of that night, should be a dream come true. But when the first day of school rolls around, something is wrong.

Instead of being greeted with warm smiles and reassuring hellos, Becca finds herself on the receiving end of icy stares and cruel whispers. Putting it down to her status as an outsider, she holds her head high, because they can't know.

They can't.

Can they?

Determined to make her new life in Credence work, Becca is willing to do whatever it takes to fit in. Even if it means losing herself in the process.

A white lie can save you ... Too many lies will break you.

From the beginning this book pulled me in with all its secrecy and mysteries surrounding Becca and this new adjustment in her life. Becca had something happen to her when she lived in Montecito where she was the popular girl whose life was all planned out and her future looked bright, but now in Credence she is the new girl that everyone has a problem with. It appears everyone in Credence has their own issues and secrets, so who do you trust? You don’t trust anyone. Becca finally finds her footing with her small group of acquaintances (I say this and not friends because everyone seems shady), but that one mean girl who has issues just won’t let Becca be. This book is full of mysteries that you can kind of guess at, yet we never really find any of it out in this book just that the secrets become more and the story even more intense. Becca thinks she’s found something great in Evan who understands her need to escape not only reality but her thoughts, yet she still can’t trust him 100% and her own parents keep hiding things from her, so she feels truly alone. As the bullying, secrets, lies, and half truths slowly start to come to light Becca understands that she just needs to survive the rest of the year on her own because no one is trustworthy. This story held my interest for so long because I wanted to know what everyone was hiding and why Kendall is the way she is, what is Evan hiding, and why is Scarlett so hot and cold all the time. The more I read the more invested I became because whatever happened to Becca has set the stages for the rest of her life and now, I need to know what EVERYONE is hiding!! I am about to jump into book two, so I find out all the answers and I hope all these secrets are one’s worth being so hush hush and hurting others over. ( )
