"With characteristic wit and charm, Sarah Andersen's third collection of comics and illustrated personal essays offers a survival guide for frantic modern life: from the importance of avoiding morning people, to Internet troll defense 101, to the not-so-life-changing futility of tidying up. But when all else fails and the world around you is collapsing, make a hot chocolate, count the days until Halloween, and snuggle up next to your furry beacon of hope"--Back cover.… (more)

I won a copy in a giveaway hosted by Shelf Awareness for Andrews McMeel Publishing! Thank you!

This was easily one of the most fun and enjoyable books I have read all year!
I found great joy in winning, receiving, and reading this little book of illustrations.

I had seen bits of her comics floating around the internet, but was unaware of the artist behind them.

Sarah’s comics and illustrations are so creative and humorous. I found myself giggling throughout the book and subsequently a happy mood took a hold of me. Sarah doesn’t shy away from the realities of her life as an artist in the adult world but finds a comical way of portraying. It’s insightful and relatable.

I love that her comics and illustrations aren’t the most amazing drawings you’ll ever see. The simplicity of them works well with the overall feel of her work. It further sends home the message of real and relatable that she seems to be going for.

I also like that towards the end of the book she illustrates a few that are in direct relation to creating and being an artist. Whatever your art is, just go make stuff. This made my artsy, creative heart smile and I delight in owning this little collection. It will be a great reminder as well as a quick pick-me-up read any time I just need a good laugh.

The bottom line? This is a delightful little book of comics that are sure to put a smile on your face. Definitely recommend! ( )

Sarah Anderson once again is somehow right behind me drawing pictures of my psyche. Herding Cats is a tad more topical, with comics on the anxiety of living in a world that's on fire. There's a narrative bit at the end on how to be a creative in today's internet, which as mentioned is kind of a dumpster fire right now, but she insists you should still create, draw, etc. because it's necessary in these times (though it's also entirely okay to go outside and unplug every now and then too). Sarah Anderson is always a delight, and this newest collection was no exception. She has a way of bringing some of my (and hers) most personal insecurities to life in a light and funny manner. She's relatable, and smart, and witty. Those who loved her first two collections will love this one.

I love this artist. Her work is so relatable. Even as she’s making me chuckle—this is more soft laugh humor than laugh-out-loud—I’m moved by the underlying pain and compassion in her work.
Although there are certainly several pages that have special meaning for the ladies, overall, her observational humor is for everyone.
Her segment at the end, Making Stuff in the Modern Era: A Guide for the Young Creative, is really excellent. It’s brief, but insightful, and a fine pep talk for artists of all kinds who are intimidated by the thought of sharing their work.
Great stuff, and you can read it in the time it takes to run a bath (don’t ask: just do). ( )
