This book follows ten different stories, taking place on ten different blocks, about what happens after the dismissal bell rings at the end of the school day. It is ten different stories of the importance of friendship. This would be a good book to have available in the classroom for students to read as they wish. It is really such a good book and I would really recommend it to any middle schooler. 3.5 Stars Well there were some wonderful stories in this middle school book. My favourite one was where the kids were making money to buy ice-cream. That one hit me right in the feels. The characters are too young for a high school library in terms of curriculum levels for assessments, but I think some older students would still enjoy this. A lovely book. no reviews | add a review

Jason Reynolds conjures ten tales (one per block) about what happens after the dismissal bell rings, and weaves them into one funny, poignant look at the detours we face on the walk home, and in life. No library descriptions found. |

This book goes through ten different children and their home experiences. Some filled with great hope and others full of hardship, this book shows the different life experiences that can happen within a couple blocks of each other.
I would not recommend this book for elementary aged students as it deal with difficult topics and has some language that would not be suitable for younger children. In some settings this book could be beneficial in widening perspective when talked about.
