Brilliant, creative Meg is a boxitect - she loves making things with boxes. Her mom sends her to Maker School, where she feels special because she is the only boxitect (other kids build with pasta and glue, pillows and blankets, cake and frosting, egg cartons, or aluminum foil)...until Simone arrives. Simone is a boxitect too, but instead of collaborating, the girls compete - until they're forced to work together. This goes poorly at first, but after their creations fall apart, they form a truce and actually work together to build something new.

Meg is dark-skinned with her black hair in two puffs; Simone presents Asian, with short, shiny, straight dark hair and almond-shaped eyes and glasses.

Back matter: "Why is cardboard so extraordinary?" and "Be a Boxitect!" (instructions for tunnel and castle) ( )
