A cute & pretty wholesome romance about a sweet but nerdy tourist falling in love with the handsome grouch who runs the diner in an Alaskan tourist town.

Utterly predictable but just right for a happy escape. First in a series about romance in this town. ( )

I think part of the reason I didn't love this was that they got together too quickly for me. I tend to enjoy slow burns better than insta love and this was definitely insta love.

Which doesn't really make sense.

He hates tourists. She is a tourist. He constantly talks about hating tourists. Like, all the time. It would make sense for this to be more of a enemies to lovers story but it was not. He was pretty much sold on her the second he saw her. It just turned me off a bit as it seemed kind of unrealistic to me.

Overall, my favorite part of this story was the setting. I have been to Alaska and loved it so I can the appeal of a romance series set in a small town there but this just didn't hit the mark for me. I may continue this series one day but it isn't high on my list. ( )

Zoe is on her dream vacation and determined to get every ounce of enjoyment out of it. She is on a shoestring budget and has no job to go back to, since they fired her for taking time off work. Zoe also has a best friend who is a very wealthy socialite who loves Moose Springs, Alaska. When Lana is insistent that Zoe try one of the rites of passage of Moose Springs, Zoe meets Graham, the relevant, grumpy owner of a restaurant who doesn’t like tourists, even though his livelihood depends on them. When Graham sees Zoe, he is instantly intrigued. There is something about the way she throws herself in to all her experiences, even though they aren’t goi g the way she had planned that makes Graham admire Zoe.

This was cute. I really liked the local colour of the small town. It was much more recognizable to me than most as they are depicted in books. I also felt as though the north, with the wildlife interactions, and how dangerous it is for both the animal and human and dumb some people are when it comes to wildlife, was depicted rather well, too. It would seem as though the author has at least visited Alaska and has an idea of what life is like. Zoe and Graham were pretty slow burn, even though the book took pace over about 10 days. They got to know one another, and it truly felt as though they listened to one another and accepted each other’s foibles. They didn’t see each other in the rosy light of new relationship, but in the golden light of forever love. I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series. ( )

Cute, fast read and it was just fun. I just wanted more steam from the Graham and Zoey. ( )
